I'm having trouble figuring out how to get pictures from Flickr onto my blog. It's probably a really easy thing to figure out, but I'm still having problems. Can anyone tell me how to do it?!?

Pub Crawl

Success

The pub crawl from last night was definitely a success. Everyone but Bailey was there and it was so much fun. We only made it to four of the eight bars on the list and unfortunately one of them we did make it to was the Nasty. Katie recorded some of the quotes from the night.

Overwhelmed....

Wow, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed at the moment. There is just so much to get done, but it doesn't seem like I have enough time to do it all. :-( The next 2 1/2 weeks are going to be very stressful.

On a lighter note, we are going on a Pub Crawl tomorrow night with several other student orgs. in our College of Business. It should be a good time.

Morning in the library

Skipped my 8:00 am chemistry class to work on a project in the library. So now I sit in the library, one of the entire 4 people that are here, but instead of working on my project I am doing this. I also saw a guy wearing shorts and a t-shirt to class this morning in the 35 degree weather. I could tell by his clenched fists that he was definitely cold. The library lady is trying to fix the printer, and two more people just came to help her fix a paper jam. I never knew it was a job for three people. I must stop procrastinating and do this project that is due tomorrow and I have yet to start. Here I go...

About me

So I realize that this should have been one of my first posts, but I figure better late than never.

My name is Krystal and I am just finishing up my Junior year at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire where I major in Marketing and International Business. I've been in AIESEC for three years now and I absolutely love it. I have met so many wonderful people and learned so much about the world and myself in my time with AIESEC. I'm currently trying to match two SNs, which is the part of AIESEC that I love the most. It's definitely a lot of work and can be stressful at times, but I'm always up for the challenge. By the way, if anyone has contacts in Germany, one of my SNs is dead set on going there for Marketing.

Last year I had the opportunity to study abroad in Lismore, Australia. I had an incredible time there and can't wait to go back someday. I think one of my best memories of Australia was when my roommate Blake took me fishing with him. I had bugged him the entire semester to take me and finally 4 days before he was leaving he took me! We fished the entire day and I accidentally caught a sting ray, but then ended up catching a flathead! We fished until it was almost dark and just before we were leaving we saw a pair of dolphins swim by. I was so excited because they were the first dolphins that I had seen in the wild. The next day Blake and I went fishing again and although he promised we wouldn't stay out all day this time, we did. I didn't mind though because it was so much fun and it was nice to spend time with him before he left, not knowing if we would see each other again. Two days later Blake left to go home to Sydney and I don't think I've ever cried so hard.

It's nice to be able to have memories like that. Of course I have many more from when I was in Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, but that is one of my favorites.

Summer plans still undecided.....if anyone knows of job openings in Northwest Wisconsin, let me know. AIESEC EB meeting is calling my name so I better go!

A girl can dream....

I saw read this on someones AIM profile today....

I want to be the girl he looks at, turns to his friends, smiles, and says "that's her."

My future is looking dim....

Back to reality....

This past weekend was one of the best I've had in a long time. It started on Thursday when Vanjah and Connie from St. Cloud and I all left for LTM in Romulus, MI. We stopped in Madison on Thursday night and partied with the Madison @ers for the night. Originally we were going to crash at Jenna's for the night but ended up staying at the AIESEC House. On Friday we continued our trip and drove down to Chicago to pick up Marc and "D" from Benedictine. Continued on to Ann Arbor with 5 people in a very, very small car. I have to say, I was not too impressed with Michigan. It was definintely good to see everyone on the leadership team again though.

Today I found out that I was accepted to be a Peer Guide for the new international students that come to my university next semester. I'm really excited about it and hoping that I can get them all interested in joining AIESEC! I'm also interviewing a big shot at the Leinenkugal Brewing Co. on Thursday......maybe he'll give me some free stuff! :-)

Some days I just don't understand....

Today I had my International Marketing class, which I absolutley love. If it wasn't for it being at 8:00 in the morning, it would be even better. Anyway, every day students have to get up and present a "current event" article on a topic related to the chapter we are discussing. Well, today's topic happened to be Products and Services for Businesses, so a guy did his article on outsourcing. Most of the article was related to companies outsourcing their call centers to other countries. So at the end of his presentation he asked the class what they thought about the outsourcing of the call centers. Pretty much every student that raised their hand said something negative about the outsourcing because they found it frustrating to deal with people who have accents! I actually could not believe what I was hearing! Here we were in an International Marketing class learning about strategies for the global marketplace and some of these student were saying that they were frustrated when talking to people with accents. Why then are these people in this class?!? Before I had a chance to raise my hand and bring up this observation, we were out of time for the presentations, so instead I mentioned it to the girl next to me. Finally when all of the presentations were done, our professor, who is Indian, addressed the comments by the other students. She basically said exactly what I was thinking. I don't know, I guess for me it was a very frustrating class to sit through and I really wish I could have had my thoughts together enough at the time to speak up.
